Битва при Турі, також відома як битва при Пуатьє і в арабських джерелах як битва когорти щахідів — битва, що відбулась 10 жовтня 732 року поблизу від міста Тура, недалеко від кордону між Франкським королівством і тоді незалежною Аквітанією. В цій битві зіткнулись франкські і арабські сили під керівництвом Австразійського майордома Карла Мартела проти сил Омейядського халіфату під командуванням Абдур-Рахмана ібн Абдалаха, генерал-губернатора аль-Андалузії. Франки перемогли, Абдур-Рахман ібн Абдалах загинув, а Мартел згодом поширив вплив Франкської держави далі на південь. Хроніки 9 століття, що трактували результат битви як Господнє благословення Карлу, дали йому прозвисько "Молот" (Martelus).

Значення

Багато сучасних істориків дотримуються тієї точки зору, що битва при Турі була одною з найкривавіших і найважливіших битв за всю історію завоювань Омейядів. Ставши розгромною поразкою Омейядів, вона прискорила їхній занепад, зупинивши поширення ісламу в Європі, утвердивши консолідацію франків та їхніх каролінгських володарів як панівної європейської династії.
