Мартін Вальдземюллер (нім. Martin Waldseemüller) (бл. 1470 р. - 1522 р.) - німецький картограф , відомий завдяки складанню найбільш ранньої карти (1507 рік), на яку нанесено назву «Америка». Він припустив, що назва «Америка» походить від латинського варіанту імені Амеріґо Веспуччі. Вальдземюллер не знав напевно і просто намагався пояснити слово, яке зустрічав на інших картах - в тому числі й на карті Кабота. Пізніше, на своїй карті світу 1513 р. він замінив слово «Америка» на «Terra Incognita».
