Вільям Воррен (William Warren; 1839–1914) — англійський ентомолог, який спеціалізувався на лускокрилих.

Біографія

Вільям Воррен спочатку здобув освіту в школі Окема, а згодом закінчив Кембриджський університет, отримавши першокласну класичну відзнаку в 1861 році. Потім він викладав у школі Седберга, гімназії Донкастера (1866—1876) і школі Стаббінгтон-Хаус. Він інтенсивно збирав метеликів на Британських островах, зокрема на болотах Вікен-Фен, з особливим інтересом до Microlepidoptera. Після того, як у 1882 році він залишив викладацьку роботу, він жив у Кембриджі і повністю присвятив себе ентомології, опублікувавши близько 40 статей про британських метеликів між 1878 і 1889 роками. Примітно, що в 1887 році він був першим, хто визнав Grapholita pallifrontana (Lienig & Zeller) (родина Tortricidae) як британський вид мікромолі. Пізніше того ж року він успішно розвів міль і описав її личинки. У 1888 році він переїхав до Челсі, де працював з родинами Pyralidae і Geometridae у Британському музеї, а пізніше, за втручання Альберта Гюнтера, для музею Тринга, опублікувавши понад 80 статей. Воррен здійснив наукові експедиції до Пенджабу, Бразилії та Японії. Він був членом Лондонського королівського ентомологічного товариства (1886—1914).
