English: Cross section through the Victoria Embankment on the north side of the River Thames, showing, the Metropolitan District Railway, sewers and pipes buried in the embankment. Illustration also shows Charing Cross station and Hungerford Bridge. The embankment was constructed between 1865 and 1870.
