Krugly - a village in western Ukraine, Transcarpathian region, close to the city of Rahiv.

The Center of Continental Europe

The village of Krugly has been marked with a geodesic landmark as the geopraphical center of Europe. The geodesic landmark, represented by stone pole, was put in place geopraphers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1887. The pole bears an inscription in Latin that reads, “Locus Perennis Dilicentissime cum libella librationis quae est in Austria et Hungaria confectacum mensura gradum meridionalium et paralleloumierum Europeum. MD CCC LXXXVII.”

There are only several other historic sites in Europe that compete with the one in Ukraine for the privilege to be recognized as the true geographical center of Europe.
