Various edits by you[ред. код]

Apologies for the English - but you claim to have a good knowledge of English - Can you please explain why you are destroying some of my edits regarding various species of plants eg.: Конюшина лучна, Конюшина рівнинна, Конюшина лучна?

Who, and what, gives you the right to edit other people's work when it is only according to your own very subjective sense of stylistics, and especially when others have bothered to make templates (шаблони) that you now seem to disregard? eg. the convention of putting the commons link in the taxobox - which you now see fit to destroy? Where is your justification? Where is the Wikipedia documentation for your own convention?

Why not spend your energies writing new articles (there is a great need on the Ukrinain wikipedia) or correct serious mistakes (also there are many) instead of using your heavy hand on other peoples editing? --Pkravchenko 15:23, 29 вересня 2009 (UTC)Відповісти

First, change your tone. The rights you are talking about are given to me by the creators of Wikipedia and its basic principles. I did spend my energy writing new articles, I am the author of at least half of our biology section plus thousands of other articles, and this is me who bothered to make the template you are talking about, except for some minor changes in it. The changes I made are not stylistic. I corrected rank names in the taxobox, removed wrong labeling of binomial name with "latin name" and removed the reference to Commons from the taxobox. There were several discussions in our project about the use of references to Commons in infoboxes, all of them ending in favor of using such references exclusively at the end of articles, though it did not get to the official rules. However, this convention is used practically in every article of the project.--Oleksii0 17:08, 29 вересня 2009 (UTC)Відповісти
I sincerely apologize for my immoderate tone. You are right — it is everyone's right to edit, and where there is no clear guidelines, or consensus, to edit according to their own sense of what is proper — especially if they have a lot of experience in editing the botanical articles (like you have). I do wish that there was better documentation for a lot of the templates on the Ukrainian wikipedia - many of the templates are converted from English ones, but they have had changes made to them which are not always documented or explained. The use of the botanical taxobox template on both the English and Ukrainian wiki, seems to have little consistency in terms of what is included in the orders, sub-orders etc. One has only to look at the same species on both the Ukrainian and English sites. Given that many of the articles about plants on the Ukrainian wikipedia are a bit 'thin', I personally prefer a more minimalist approach, as the taxobox is often longer than the article. However, I do think the links to wikispecies, ITIS etc are useful as they help with dealing with seeing the species in a larger context (not just the local Ukrainian one). Once again, I'm sorry for the offense caused by my tone. --Pkravchenko 04:10, 1 жовтня 2009 (UTC)Відповісти
