Reliability of Page
[ред. код]I would not recommend anyone to use this as a reliable source. It is firstly quite interesting how totem practices in other areas are not really mentioned, in which they they are generally more prominent (NA with native Americans, Africa, etc.). Another large issue in this topic, in addition to such a narrow area covered, is that the information presented is quite misleading in regards to the Russian people. It is claimed that the foundation of Russians are Finno-ugric based on the evidence given, which is a dubious and especially misleading claim for several reasons. In several instances the page also attempts to isolate Russians from Indo-Europeans in general and instead brand them as Finno-Ugric with cherry-picked and misunderstood information. “Leading the bear,” for instance, is only noted as a practice amongst Russians and Hungarians to imply Russians share a Finno-ugric connection with Hungarians; this page fails to mention, however, that this practice is actually prevalent among Slavs, notably among Poles, Russians, and southern Slavs. In another instance a writer takes the liberty of claiming that the Siberian practices of worshipping elk are similar to central Russian celebrations in order to imply their shared connection with Russians; again, this is a dubious and unfounded claim that aims to spread this biased point of view. Some of these sources are also not the most reliable and could benefit from opposing sources or more neutral sources for a broader point of view. FrodeJ (обговорення) 15:59, 15 березня 2021 (UTC)
