Taras Volodymyrovych Postnikov (born 25 November 1975, Sumy) is a theatre and film actor, singer, kobzar, composer, poet, writer, producer, TV presenter, Cossack, public figure. Merited Artist of Ukraine (2009). He is a songwriter. Professionally plays the following musical instruments: flute, piano, kobza, lyre, bagpipe, bansuri. He is a performer of Ukrainian old-time music on the kobza. He has appeared in more than 70 films and TV series.

Biography

Born on 25 November 1975 in Sumy, Ukraine.

His mother, Honoured Artist of Ukraine Liudmyla Mamykina, and father, Honoured Artist of Ukraine Volodymyr Postnikov, worked at the Sumy State Theatre of Drama and Musical Comedy named after M. Shchepkin. At the age of 5, Taras played the lead role in a children's film. In 1983, he moved to Vinnytsia with his parents. In 1988, at the Vinnytsia Music and Drama Theatre named after Sadovsky, he played the role of Grandson in the play "Крик журавля" (he Cry of the Crane) by E. Dudarev. In 1995, he graduated from the Vinnytsia Music College named after M. Leontovych, majoring in flute and simultaneously completed the first year of the acting department at the same college. In 1999, he graduated from the Karpenko-Kary Kyiv State Institute of Theatre Arts with a degree in theatre and film acting, class of O. Molostova and Y. Vysotsky. From the second and third years of study, he begins to act in films, including the lead role in G. Kokhan's 1998 film "Tупік" (Dead End), appears in commercials and music videos, and begins to work actively on the stage: he becomes a soloist in the popular band "Ніч на Різдво" (Night for Christmas), music producer G. Krupnyk, and tours extensively around the country. Becomes a participant in many Ukrainian and international film festivals: "Constellation" in Tver (Russia), "Brigantine" in Berdiansk, "Stozhary", "Molodist". Kyiv and winner of the music competitions "Пісенний вернісаж" (Song Vernissage) in Kyiv. Kyiv, II prize, "Melody", Lviv, III prize, etc. Lviv - III prize, etc. Composer and arranger G. Krupnyk is the author of the idea of the music video for the song "Night on Christmas" by the band "Night on Christmas", edited on the footage from the film "Тупік" (Dead End) directed by G. Kohan.The solo song "Роскажи,роскажи ", composed and arranged by H. Krupnyk, performed by Taras Postnikov as a member of the band "Night on Christmas", becomes the soundtrack to this film. In 1999, he joined the famous troupe of the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theatre. Participates in numerous charity events. Becomes a member of the popular band "Ex-Presidents", produced by V. Kutsevalov, records songs and appears in three music videos. As a member of this group, he gives many concerts, including charity tours to orphanages and juvenile penitentiaries in Ukraine, and takes part in the 15th International Festival of Youth and Students Algiers 2001 (Algeria), but after a while leaves the group. Later he works as a soloist. In the film "The man with golden hands" (USA) by American director Gaither Henry, he played the role of Borisov in English. In 2003, he was invited by the People's Artist of Ukraine A. G. Khostikoyev to participate in the performances of "the Benyuk and Khostikoyev" theatre company's entreprise. Becomes the host of the TV programme "You're Going to the Ball" on the Ukrainian TV channel 1+1. He independently mastered playing such a unique musical instrument as the Ukrainian kobza, performs and records old Ukrainian folk songs. As a lyricist, composer and performer, professionally mastering the kobza, voice, flute, lyre and piano, in 2011 he created an album of original modern pop and folk Ukrainian kobza songs "Cossack Heart", in which he vividly reveals the peculiarities of Ukrainian national melodies, modes, timbres, using such purely Ukrainian instruments as the Old World kobza, wheeled lyre, and others, in a modern arrangement created by V. Filimonchuk. In 2009, songs performed by Taras Postnikov twice became winners of the Folk Music TV contest on the FIRST NATIONAL channel, hosted by People's Artist of Ukraine Oksana Pekun and produced by V. Kovalenko. He tours a lot. He has worked fruitfully in the collectives of the Ivan Franko Theatre and the "Benyuk and Khostikoev" Theatre Company in dramatic performances: "Viva la Queene" - Darnley; "The Court of Henry III" - Ruggeri, Arthur; "Of Mice and Men" - Wit; "Zorba the Greek" - Nikos, etc., and in musical performances: "The Musicians of Bremen" - Troubadour; "Pygmalion" - Fredi; rock opera "The White Crow" - young Minstrel, King of France; "Edith Piaf - Life on Credit" - Louis Dupont; "The Zadunayan Beyond the Threshold" - Andrey, in which he also acts as a musical director. He is an active film actor. In 2008, he played the lead role of the young Sheptytsky in the film "Владика Андрій", directed by People's Artist of Ukraine Oles Yanchuk. In 2009, he was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Artist of Ukraine. He has won many film, theatre and music festivals and competitions. Taras Postnikov's poems are published in Ukrainian magazines. In 2013-2014, he took an active part in the REVOLUTION OF DIGNITY. On three occasions, including when clashes and shelling had already begun, day and night, he performed kobza and original pop songs on the Maidan stage, recited Taras Shevchenko's poems, and, along with all the participants of the Revolution of Dignity, built barricades on European Square, chipping ice on the pavement, loading it into bags, and building barricades in the cold. As a volunteer, he helps IDPs from Donbas. He records an artistic video message to the defenders in eastern Ukraine called Letters to the Front. In 2017, he leaves the Ivan Franko Theatre. Creates his own theatre and concert company, the Taras Postnikov Independent Project. In 2018, within the framework of the project, he releases a musical and dramatic one-man show "What Only I Know". The author is Honoured Artist of Ukraine Liudmyla Mamykina (Vinnytsia). Directed by Pavel Tikhomirov, People's Artist of the Czech Republic, Honoured Artist of the CBD (Moscow). Performer - Honoured Artist of Ukraine Taras Postnikov (Kyiv). The premiere took place at the Vinnytsia Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre named after M. K. Sadovsky in 2018. In this musical-dramatic one-man show, Taras Postnikov creates a kaleidoscope of vivid images: from colourful folk to fairy-tale and mythical characters. The performance contains a lot of poetry, including his own, and songs. Being a professional musician, the actor plays the flute, as well as the Old World kobza and wheeled lyre, and performs folk songs, dumas, and kobza psalms, as well as songs in modern arrangements accompanied by these musical instruments. The performance deals with the genocide of the Ukrainian poets by the Soviet regime, in particular, the extermination of kobzars and lyre players in 1934-1935. The play was created at Taras Postnikov's own expense. He is currently touring Ukraine with the play. In Kyiv, the performance is being staged at the National Centre for Theatre Arts named after L. Kurbas. L. Kurbas National Centre for Theatre Arts. In 2021, the play "What Only I Know" becomes the LAURA of the International Online Theatre Festival "Theatre. Territory of Unity" (Vladimir). In 2018, as part of the Ukrainian East programme, he participated as a singer and kobzar in the Day of the Ukrainian Language and Writing in Luhansk region and toured with a group of Ukrainian artists, including Anzhelika Rudnytska, in eastern Ukraine, taking part in concerts for the Ukrainian military. In 2020, he played Voland in the Master and Margarita, an off-Broadway production, and toured eastern Ukraine with the play. He also plays all the male roles in the play Lakshmi's Dream, directed by Honoured Artist of Ukraine Myroslav Hrynyshyn. The play is a project of the Kurbas Centre. In 2021, he became a lecturer at the Kyiv Children's Academy of Arts named after M. Chamberlain. In 2021, he takes part in the Online Concert of Greetings to His Eminence Metropolitan Yurii (Kalishchuk) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada from St. Anne's Church in Toronto. In the same year, he received an offer from a producer from Canada, the head of the UOC of Canada's Bethlehem Star Online Sunday School, and a member of the Fourth Wave NGO, Hanna Kozakova, to sing and record a song by Canadian diaspora artist Tetyana Bila, "Ridna Ukraina". Taras Postnikov invites a well-known Ukrainian composer, arranger and producer, Hennadiy Krupnyk, who participates in the project as a co-author and as a composer, and creates an enchanting arrangement for this song. This creates an original international project involving Ukrainian singer Taras Postnikov, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, internationally renowned arranger, composer and producer Gennady Krupnik, and Canadian diaspora author Tatiana Bila. A video clip is being created for this song. Taras Postnikov's hobby is Easter egg painting. One of his works, a Hutsul-style Easter egg, is an exhibit at the Druid Museum in Bretonne, France.

In 1995 he graduated from the Leontovych Vinnytsia Music College. In 1999, he graduated from the Ivan Karpenko-Kary Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television, class of I. O. Molostova and O. M. Shavarsky.
