Петсухос

Петсухос (грец. Πετεσοῦχος) — священний крокодил у давньоєгипетській міфології, який мав власний храм у місті Хатнечер-Себек — столиці Фаюму. Його шанували як живе втілення бога води Себека. У Мерідовому озері, що прилягало до головного святилища Себека, утримували Петсухоса. Шанувальники Себека, які шукали його захисту, пили воду з цього озера і годували священного крокодила делікатесами. Петсухос означає «годованець Собека» або «син Собека», тому давньоєгипетське слово «годованець» може ще перекладатися як «син». Коли священні крокодили Петсухоси вмирали, їх замінювали новими. Їхні трупи муміфікували, як і трупи фараонів та жерців.
